Tenterden Lions planting, planting and more planting!

November 11, 2016 by Website Admin

You have probably spotted some Lions roaming in Tenterden during the last week, busy digging holes. However, these Lions are tame and come complete with spades and bulbs!

Planting Crocuses

Firstly, 4,000 crocus bulbs have been planted by Tenterden Lions Club members in the roadside verges in St Michaels and Tenterden. These should provide a wonderful splash of colour next Spring. Here are some of the happy planters who were helping in the four groups last Sunday.

Lion’s John Bownes, John Burbidge and Mike Boughton.
Lion’s Bernard Beardsmore, David Walshe and Jim Reeves.
Lion’s Peter Webb, Barry Cheesmur, Joy Gray and Rod Macdonald.

Tenterden Junior School Garden

The Lions also formed a school garden planting team at Tenterden Junior School with David (who has an earth moving machine), Steve (who worked hard), John Bur (who also worked hard), Mike (who had difficulty gaining entrance to the school) and Barry (supervisor and provider of animal poo). They created a very professional flower bed for the school. With roses, lavender, heather and some crocus bulbs. The effect should be very colourful next year.

Lion’s John Burbidge, David Walshe (Head Gardener) Peter Webb, Steve Clarke and Barry Cheesmur.
Finished garden.
