Tenterden Lions Club once again held their very popular Primary Schools Choir Competition on Tuesday 13th June at St. Mildred’s Church, Tenterden which proved to be an enjoyable and exciting occasion for both parents and children.
Seven schools took part this year which was the most we have had in the six years that the competition has run, each selecting two songs to sing with accompaniment: – Tenterden, Bethersden, High Halden, St. Michaels, Benenden, Rolvenden and Biddenden.
This year congratulations go to Benenden CE Primary School who won the competition, with Rolvenden Primary School coming second and Tenterden CE Junior School coming third. All schools performed extremely well making it very difficult for the judges to choose their winners.
There was a retiring collection for Dr Barnado’s which raised £110. All participating schools are awarded an equal share of the prize money and therefore each school will receive a cheque from Tenterden Lions for £100. The date for next year’s competition will be 12th June 2018!
Many thanks to all Tenterden Lions Club members and family who turned up to help and special thanks to Lion Ian Bartram who organized the event this year, Lion Mike Caridia who was our excellent MC for the afternoon, and Lion Chris Cheesman who stayed behind at the end to supervise the clearing up operation and lock up the Church.
