Tenterden Lions Club
Tenterden Lions Club is part of a global family, Lions International, that was founded over 100 years ago and which, today, has a worldwide membership of over 1.4 million with over 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and is the largest voluntary organisation on the planet.
Tenterden Lions Club was formed in 1957 and since then we have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity. In excess of 80% of funds raised are donated to local causes which include the Tenterden Community Hub, local Schools, the Pilgrims Hospice, Hi-Kent, Kent Sussex and Surry Air Ambulance, RNLI Dungeness, and many more.
In 2018 the club presented Tenterden with a Beacon, situated on the Recreation Ground, to help remember 100 years since the end of the Great War and to celebrate our own Diamond Anniversary. We also plant thousands of bulbs in the grass verges of Tenterden to enhance the locals and visitors image of the town.
Our motto is ‘WE SERVE’ and that is what we do to make life better for those in the community who are either less fortunate, have special needs, or to enable youngsters in our schools and those of the surrounding villages area to obtain services and equipment to enhance education and opportunities for our children.
